* Using colour to balance your body is a great idea. Wear light colours where you are small and dark colours where larger. For example, if you have large hips, wear dark skirts or pants and a light coloured blouse.
* Wearing set-in sleeves with shoulder pads will help you to balance wide hips. The shoulder pads will add to your shoulders therefore balancing with your hips.
* Don't choose clothes that are too tight. Clothes that fit well will make you appear slimmer while tight clothes will only add pounds.
* Wear tops or dresses that have a scoop neckline with half or long sleeves to hide heavy arms and draw attention to the face and neck.
* Clothes in solid colors with simple lines will make you appear taller.
* Always break in new shoes before wearing them out for a special occasion
* Wear straight silhouettes in a solid colour to hide a thick waist.
* The skinner the stripe, the thinner you appear.
* Don't wear black on a hot day or at a wedding.
* A straight cut skirt and full leg pants will hide large thighs.
* To appear shorter, jackets or tops should fall below the hips.
* To lengthen your legs wear slim, straight leg pants.
* To appear taller and thinner, try a pinstripe suit.
* Long sleeves should hit just at the wrist bone.
* When you are wearing a white shirt, wear a bra close to your skin color.
* To hide wide hips, try an a-line style dress.
* Give a new updated look to an old blouse or jacket by sewing on new buttons.
* Pleats add pounds. If you want to look larger through the hips, wear pleats. If you don't, avoid pleats! · If clothes don't fit, have them altered. If they don't fit, they'll remain in the closet.
* One of the biggest trends for spring is denim. You can find it in skirts, shorts, jeans, jackets, and shirts and even kurtas.
* These are the basics measurements you need to find your correct bra size. With a measuring tape, measure around the torso at the underarm level and under the breasts. If the number is odd, add one to it. For example, if your measurement is 35, your bra size will be 36. Next, measure around your bust at its fullest part. Subtract the bra size from this number.
* Pin a safety pin to the inside of your slacks in case of an emergency. If a button comes off or the zipper breaks you will be prepared.

* Choose your accessories wisely. Accessories can completely change the look of an outfit.
* Women with larger hips should choose jeans that are generously cut through the hips with a flared leg.
* When losing weight, don't wait to choose wardrobe pieces. Choose pieces that will camouflage problem areas.

10 WAYS TO LOOK SEXY

Every woman wants to look attractive and sensuous. And to look attractive you don’t really have to bare all. All you have to do is add a few unexpected touches and adopt some glamorous essentials. Are you wondering what these are? Well here are 10 ways to look stunning without sacrificing your modesty.

1. Wear something ordinary in an unexpected way.
Well that doesn’t mean that you have to wear your favourite dress inside out or tear your Mum’s saree and make a wrap around skirt with it. All you have to do is wear something ordinary which you would have worn anyways but in a slightly different manner. For example, take a basic man's white shirt (slightly oversized), unbutton it, wrap it so that one side overlaps the over and tuck it in.

2. Do red lipstick.
Pale lips may be trendy, but nothing does the job like red. Use lip-liner for a perfect appearance, choose a creamy matte in a red that best suits your skin tone. Use a light hand for the rest of the face because the lips should take center stage.

3. Accessorize with earrings.
Keep your makeup soft. Except shoulder-duster earrings don’t wear any other piece of jewelry. This look goes great with bare shoulders and updos.

4. Accessorize with scarf.
Nothing attracts attention than a scarf which will gel wonderfully with the dress you wear. Thus a lovely dress and a lovely scarf is a deadly combination.

5. Go monochromatic.
Black may be sexy, but this season monochromatic dressing is in vogue. Monochromatic dressing creates a vertical image that makes you look tall and slim instantly. Look for simple shapes (the story here is the fabric and colour, not the line of the outfit) and tones that flatter your skin color.

6. Adopt an exotic look.
A dress which has a historical and cultural value always draws attention. Bandhni prints, Rajasthani dresses, Harem pants and embroidered items all have ethnic looks with tons of feminine charm. The mandarin-collar dress from China is flattering, chic and always intriguing.

7. Wear shades.
Perhaps the single sexiest item you can own are a great pair of sunglasses. They add tons of mystery, look cute even on top of your head and actually serve the practical purpose of protecting your eyes.

8. A sexy back
If you have a sexy back then this is the time to flaunt it. Wear open back dresses which not only will make you look stunning but will also make a bold fashion statement.

9. Go for soft fabrics.
Make sure that the fabric you wear is soft to touch because they not only look sexy but also feels good to wear giving you confidence and an elegant look. Cashmere, silky satin, buttery soft suedes are the real scene-stealers.

10. Accessorize with a sexy handbag.
Pick a handbag that compliments your figure and dress.

SKIN CARE
Every girl wants to look beautiful and attractive. No girl growing up these days do not have a role model. They either want to look like their favourite film actress or model but what you have to remember is that you are no less attractive and beautiful. You have to believe in yourself and be yourself. You have to make the best of what you have got and therefore you have to take the best care of your skin.

Following are a few guidelines that you have to follow to have a flawless, silky, smooth and vivacious skin:

Cleansing: Cleanse your face everyday with a cleansing cream. This will keep your pores open so that your skin can breathe and it will also keep the dirt away. Also cleanse or wash your body once a day and your genital areas more often if possible. Do not use a strong soap on your face for cleansing since the skin of your face id very delicate. If you are using soap then choose a mild soap to cleanse your face.

Moisturising: Moisturising is the most important thing that you can do to your skin and the most early you start it is better for your skin. Upto the age of 20 a light miosturising cream is sufficient. Apply it after a bath or after you cleanse your face. Apply it morning and evening as many times as you cleanse your face.

Removing makeup: You have to take extra care while removing makeup because your skin is tender and makeup can be hard on your skin. So as far as possible use makeup only at parties. Always remove eye make eye makeup remover pad or cleansing lotion. Put a generous amount of cleansing lotion on your face and massage with your fingertips. Then wipe it off with a tissue. To refresh your skin smooth a little toner over your face. And ultimately dab moisturising lotion generously over your face using your fingertips. Massage it gently and smoothly into each curve and crevices around your eyes.

Care for Dry Skin: Dry skin looks dry, sometimes flakes and often feels tight, particularly if you have washed it with soap. For such a skin type always use mild, alcohol free makeup and toner and a rich creamy cleanser. Try to moisturise your face as many times as you can and apply the moisturiser generously.

Care for Oily Skin: Oily skin looks dull and full of grease. Oily skin is more prone to acne and spots because it contains a lot of sebum, which helps to prevent the skin from drying out. However oily skin does not age quickly though you have to take more care of it. Wash your face with soap and water. Use toners and astringents containing alcohol and always use a non-greasy cleanser. Wash your face twice with soap and water, gently massage for a minute and wash off.

Care for Combination skin: Most of us have this type of skin, with an oily centre panel across the forehead, nose and chin and areas of dry patch across our cheeks, eyes and necks. Use a mild milky cleanser and moisturise the drier areas quite frequently.

MAKE-UP TIPS
Except for parties teenagers should use makeup most sparingly. Try to keep your face as natural as possible. Follow our makeup tips given below.

Foundation: Use foundation cream to cover up little blemishes that are there on the skin and foundation will also give your skin an even finish. Choose the foundation cream, which is as close as your skin tone. Blend it evenly and don't forget to blend it into your neck.

Powder: Powder helps in mixing and setting your foundation right and also adds a natural glow to your skin. Use loose powder since it gives an even finish and the excess is easy to remove. However compressed powder is easy to carry around so girls find that handy.

Blusher: Blusher gives your face warmth and makes it livelier. But use it properly since blush used at wrong places might give quite funny looks. For example if you use blush too near to your nose, it will draw your face inwards. If you want to make your eyes appear wide the just sweep some blush outwards. If you want a chiselled look dab some under your cheekbones.

Highlighter: You can use highlighters to give shape and appearance to your face and also to draw attention to your good and plus points, such as your eyes. You can put a touch of highlighter on the top of your cheekbone and under your brow.

Eye make-up: Do not use eye makeup at daytime. Use a light colour to cover your eyelid and eye socket. Take a slightly dark colour and shade in above your eye crease and down to the top of your eyelid. Outline the eye as close to the lashes as you can and blend in both top and bottom lines so that they don't look too hard. Apply two coats of mascara to upper and lower lashes.

Lipstick: Lipstick adds colour to your face and thus is said to give the finishing touch. Outline the lips with a lip pencil in either the same shape as your lipstick or one shade darker and fill in with lipstick. Add a lip glow afterwards if you like.

HAIR CARE

Every girl has a different hair texture and hair type. Some have dry hair, some have oily hair while some have normal hair. Therefore each hair type has a different treatment.

Care for oily hair:
Oily hair has a very common teenage problem because your scalp is producing a little more sebum and oil than it should. For oily hair care do the following:

1.Wash your hair as often as you can and if possible everyday but use a mild shampoo or a shampoo, which is for frequent or daily use.
2.Avoid using anti-dandruff shampoos, which also stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum.
3.Try not to brush and comb your hair a lot since both of these activities will stimulate the sebaceous glands.

4.You don't have to apply a conditioner for oily hair.
5.If you want to make your hair drier then you can get it permed, dyed or tinted
Control Excessive Hair Loss

Care for dry hair:
Dry hair needs extra care since it easily gets split ends and looks listless. For dry hair care do the following:

1. Always use a good conditioner after applying shampoo and washing your hair.
2. Let your hair dry naturally and even if you do use a blower, dry your hair on low heat.
3. Before shampooing your hair apply oil thoroughly to your hair and keep it for 1 hour and then wash.
4. Wash your hair as infrequently as possible, perhaps once in 4 days and use a mild shampoo.
5. Don't brush your hair out, just comb it gently. FAST Hair Growth

Dealing With Dandruff Trouble
Dandruff is a big problem and an embarrassment but if you know your facts right about dandruff you can deal with this problem. Dandruff is not abnormal, nor does an infection or fungus cause it. It is merely skin cells that are lost from the surface of your scalp all the time and the presence of hair blocks the dead cells from falling off. They become piled up into thicker dead scales and this is called dandruff. You can thus control this accumulation of dead cells with regular, frequent washing, if possible everyday with a mild shampoo or a shampoo for daily use. Avoid rubbing or scratching but rinse your hair thoroughly so that you don't leave any shampoo behind.

Choosing a Hairstyle
Your hairstyle should be one which is easily manageable and which will allow to be dried naturally and too much styling. The best way to find a hairstyle is to flip through a magazine and whichever style you choose make sure that it suits your face and looks realistic. For more information on hairstyle visit our exclusive section on HAIR CARE.

SELECTING A BRA

It is a fact that between 70 and 85 percent of girls out there are not wearing a proper fitting bra. Either they are wearing the wrong size or the wrong style which is appropriate for them. Selecting a bra may seem like a simple process, but getting a comfortable fit can be tricky. It is important that you were the right bra to give proper support to your breasts. If your breasts are heavy and you do not support them properly then the suspensory ligaments will stretch and your breasts will sag. To receive the best possible fit and support from your bra, it is important to remember a few key points, and to take advantage of the expertise of the sales personnel where you are shopping. Though it will be a bit odd to take help from others but it is worth it.

Measuring For Proper Bra Size
1. First measure yourself around the ribs, just below your bust keeping tape snug not tight. Remember to stand up straight and breath normally. If the measurement is an uneven number, round up to the next even number.
2. To determine the cup size, you'll need to measure around your body at the fullest part of the bust. Be certain the measuring tape is secure against your back.
3. When you have the two measurements, subtract the first measurement (the rib measurement) from the second measurement (the bust). If the difference is 1 inch, your cup size is A; 2 inches is a B; 3 inches is a C and so forth. See the chart listed below.

Conversion Chart for Bra Size

DIFFERENCE 0" 1" 2" 3" 4" 5"
CUP SIZE AA A B C D
DD

There are many types of bras available and you have to decide which type is best for you. If you are a very active person then invest in a sports bra, which will not only give you comfort but also will give you the support you need.

Bust Care Tips

BUST CARE

Breasts are largely made up of fat globules and fibrous connective tissue. Breasts in fact do not have any muscular tissues and are held by the muscles, which lie between the rib cage. Hence if these muscles, which are called pectorals, are in good shape, then your breasts will get a good cleavage and lift.

Around 50 per cent of women are unhappy with their breasts. And their size and shape is largely beyond our control. They are liable to change size of their own accord quite regularly due to hormonal changes, losing or gaining weight, pregnancy and menstrual cycles. Ageing, pregnancy, and repeated dieting can all contribute to the southward journey of your bust by changing the natural elasticity of the cutaneous tissue. But diet, exercise and proper care can all contribute towards a healthier chest.

Exercise of the pectoral muscles will help to improve the appearance of the bust as you can strengthen the supportive ligaments, which stretch from the nipple to the underside of the breast. The actual breast doesn't have any muscle so if it's already sagging, there's not much you can do to defy gravity. Exercises, breast creams, along with massage, may improve appearance and texture and even lessen stretch marks. However if you have a real problem, then cosmetic surgery is probably the only way to really change your bust.

Sagging Breast
The ideal size and shape of the human breast is a matter of personal and cultural preference. It also varies with the dictates of fashion.

Premature sagging occurs as a result of stretching the Cooper's ligaments that help suspend and support the breast. Breast ptosis (drooping breasts) can result from a loosening of the skin and suspensory ligaments. Gravity and weight of breasts take their toll over time. Ptosis can also come from a reduction in the volume of breast tissue. This can occur after pregnancy and weight loss.

Although good breast care primarily means keeping your breasts healthy, for some women it also means keeping your breasts smooth and firm. There are two reasons for breast to sag: large breasts and age. Somewhere between the age of 30 and 40, the elastic tissue in the breast begins to degenerate. The breast fibres, which act like rubber bands and provide that resilient bounce as you walk, will still stretch, but they don't snap back quite as well. The result is saggy breasts. Adding to the problem, hormonal changes - both during pregnancy and as you reach menopause - make breasts sag even more.

Three types of aesthetic procedures are commonly performed on the breast as under:
Breast augmentation (making the breast larger)
Mastopexy (lifting up the sagging breast)
Breast reduction

Mammaplasty (Breast augmentation)
Breast augmentation (also called mammaplasty) is a surgery to contour and enlarge breasts using implants. Many women choose the procedure because they feel their breasts are too small for their body. Some women lose breast size after childbirth or breastfeeding. For others, nature was not overly generous to begin with. And there are other women who are bothered by uneven breasts and would like a more naturally balanced look.

It is done by placing an implant (also called a prosthesis), either directly behind the tissue of the breast gland or underneath the pectoral muscles as well as the breast. Many designs of implant are used. They all consist of a silicone bag containing a fluid. The outside of the silicone bag or envelope is sometimes textured. The first fluid used to fill implants was silicone gel, followed by saline (salt water).
The breast implant is inserted through either an incision around the lower border of the nipple (at the edge of the areola or pigmented area), an incision in the skin fold below the breast or an incision in the armpit. Choice of incision and breast size is largely a matter of preference of the patient and plastic surgeon.

Mastopexy (Breast Lift)
Breast lift (or mastopexy) is a surgical procedure to reshape and raise sagging breasts. The surgeon removes excess, stretched skin, which has allowed the breasts to droop, and lifts the nipples to a higher, more pert position. If desired, the size of the areola can be reduced as part of the procedure as well. In some cases, breast implants are inserted at the same time to round and shape the breasts for a fuller, more natural appearance. A breast lift is similar to breast reduction mammaplasty - both procedures remodel the breast. The breast lift reshapes the breast by the removal of stretched and sagging skin; the breast reduction removes fat and breast tissue as well.
There are several techniques for a breast lift that the cosmetic plastic surgeon can consider depending upon the degree of droopiness (ptosis) of the breast. In a youthful breast, the nipple lies above the inframammary fold on the mound of the breast. The surgeon will examine your breast, decide on the degree of ptosis, and then determine the surgical treatment best for you.

Breast reduction
Reduction mammaplasty (breast reduction) is the surgical reduction of the breast tissue, and re-tailoring of the overlying skin. This operation involve cutting around the nipple, leaving it attached to the chest wall by a stalk of breast tissue, removing excess skin (and glandular tissue in a reduction) and closing the re-shaped breast.

Bust Care Tips
Having saggy breast is very common, especially in women who have large breasts and who are aged. Adding to the problem, hormonal changes - both during pregnancy and as you reach menopause - make breasts sag even more. You can choose to carry out a plastic surgery. Apart from surgery, you can lift your breast up in a natural way. The best strategy to prevent sagging is to wear supportive sports bras that have good upward support and hold the breasts close to the chest. Strength exercises that target the pectoral muscles may provide some benefit in elevating overlying breast tissue. Push-ups, dumb-bell flies and weight machines that work the pectoral muscles may provide some aesthetic benefit. De-emphasize your focus on weight and continue regular exercise and healthy eating habits.

Exercise for your Breast
For this you will require a set of three-pound dumbbell.

Steps
1. Lie down on a mat. Hold one weight in each hand and extended your arms out at shoulder level. Raise both arms straight up together above your body, keeping your elbow slightly bent, so that the weights meet over your chest. Return the weighs out to your sides at shoulder height. Repeat the exercise 13 to 15 times.

2. Lie down on a mat. Extend your arms and hold the weights up in the air over your chest. Bend your elbows and lower the weights toward your chest, with your elbows out to the sides at shoulder level. Extend your arms straight back up over your chest. Repeat the exercise 13 to 15 times.

3. Take a weight in each hand, extend your arms out to each side and do 15 small, backward circles about a foot in diameter. Widen the circles slightly and do another 15, then repeat these two steps going forward.

Nutrition for your Breast
Eat less animal fat. Eat more oily fish and use extra virgin olive oil instead of standard cooking oils.
Top up your diet with an antioxidant supplement, including vitamins C, E, beta-carotene and the mineral selenium. Also eat plenty of antioxidant-rich fresh fruits and vegetables, especially onions, garlic, carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower.
Eat more fibre, especially oats, rye, millet, brown rice and beans. Fibre helps to move food through the gut and may reduce the re-absorption of oestrogen.
Limit alcohol - it can cause an increase in oestrogen levels.
Cut back on coffee, cola, chocolate and strong tea.
Increase your protein intake. Protein is needed to build and keep muscles tone and firm. Protein also provides much-needed Collagen. Three to four meals a day that consist of protein is recommend.

Another thing that is important to avoid 'drooping' or 'sagging' breasts is wearing a good supportive bra, especially during pregnancy and exercise.

Choosing A Good Sports Bra
It is really important to wear a good sports bra when exercising regardless of the size of your bust. It will help to reduce breast pain and minimise 'sagging' in the future! But many women don't know how to choose the right style or size. Here are our tips for finding the right sports bra.

Make sure that the bra is specially designed for sports use. Most bras are not designed for the increased movement during exercise. If you want to use a non-sports bra you already own, make sure it has a 'firm support'.
Measure your size properly. Most of the women wear wrong size bras.
Check the bra strap. It should be firm but comfortable. If it is too loose the bra won't stay put, but too tight and it will be hard to breathe.
Check that the cups are the right size. If there is any bulging the cup size is too small, if the cups wrinkle the cup is too big. It is important to get the right cup size.

Perfect Hair Styles Tips

The Perfect Hairstyle

Did you know that any great look consists of three basic elements, the perfect haircut suitable for your facial shape, the proper styling products and the right makeup to go with the desired hairstyle. The style of your hair basically depends on the shape of your face. Therefore if you want to have the hairstyle that your favourite film star has then it is not necessary that the same hairstyle will suit you. Therefore before deciding on any hairstyle/haircut always determine the shape of your face. Here's how you will do it:

Pull your hair back with an elastic band or headband so all you see is your face. Stand close to a well-lit mirror and, with a dampened bar of soap, slowly trace your facial outline onto the mirror. The outline on the mirror will reflect your face shape, which will be one of the following.

Round

Description: A large, curved forehead with a rounded chin. The face looks full and has very few angles. Cheekbones are clearly wider than brow bone and jaw line. Widest point is at the cheeks and ears.

Most complimentary styles: Hairstyles with fullness and height at the crown will draw attention upward giving you a longer face shape. Also try short hairstyles with a swept-back direction or hairstyles that are longer than chin length. By layering the top to achieve fullness and keeping the rest of the cut relatively close to the face, your face shape will appear longer and narrower. An off centre part is best with fullness and height at the crown.

Avoid: Avoid slick back styles without hair touching your face. Do not add width around the sides of your face, this will make the face appear to be wider than normal. As long as you have a focal point such as curls on top this will draw attention away from the roundness of your face. Also avoid chin length hair with rounded lines. These rounded styles will only make your face appear to be even more round. Avoid short cuts since it will only make your face appear to be heavier than normal.

Oval

Description: Oval is a perfectly balanced face; the top half balances the bottom half. Those who have oval face are extremely lucky coz they can flaunt almost all hairstyle.

Most complimentary styles: Hairstyles that are short, medium and long suit you since your face shape is well-balanced. You look best when styling hair off you face. If you have curly hair, a short cut looks most chic.

Avoid: Covering up your "perfect" features with heavy bangs, or too forward-directed styles. Also avoid too much hair on your face, as it will cover the perfectly proportioned face.

Heart

Description: Heart shape face has a wide forehead and a narrow chin line. Therefore hairstyles should be such that will decrease the width of the forehead and increase the width of the lower part of the face.

Most Complimentary styles: A chin length bob is most complimentary on your face shape. Bobs tend to be fuller at the bottom, which is what you would want if you were trying to bring width to your thin jawbone. You should always go for side-parted hairstyles.

Avoid: Short, full styles that emphasize upper face. Avoid too much height at the crown since it gives the appearance of a long and narrow chin. Avoid slicked-back looks for it will only draw more attention to the shape of your face.

Oblong/Rectangle

Description: Oblong shape is long and narrow with hollow cheeks. There is very little difference in width between the top, middle or bottom of your face but it is more rounded than the square face. Your goal should be to add width and fullness to the sides of the face and around the eyes, cheekbones and ears.

Most Complimentary style: Short to medium lengths with fullness at the sides of your face and at your eyes and cheeks, is perfect for you. You can also try soft and wispy bangs since it will shorten the appearance of the length. Layer works great with your face structure, as they will add softness to the straight lines in your face. Always have side parting to throw off the balance of your face.

Avoid: Too much hair length will make your face look longer. Avoid centre parts since it will bring attention to the middle of your face and make it appear to be longer.

Triangle

Description: Jaw line is significantly wider than brow bone. Your goal should be to narrow the chin and widen the forehead.

Most Complimentary style: Chin length or longer cuts are best for you. Go for styles that are full at the temples and taper at the jaw. Off centre parts. Shags and Wedge cuts look great. Try tucking hair behind your ears as this will draw attention to your eyes and add width in this area.

Avoid: Long, full hairstyles that draw attention to jaw line. Avoid Centre parts since it will bring attention to the middle of your face and make it appear to be longer.

Diamond

Description: Cheekbone is clearly wider than forehead and jaw line. Your aim should be to reduce the width around the cheekbone line.

Most Complimentary style: If you are a true diamond then most of the hairstyles look good on your face. You can wear shorter styles, however if you are a dramatic diamond shape you need to leave weight in the back nape area like a heart shaped face. This will achieve more balance between your dramatic cheekbones and more delicate chin line.

Avoid: Avoid hairstyles that lift away from cheeks or move back from the hairline.

Square

Description: A square shaped face has a straight hairline and a square jaw line. Therefore you have to create an illusion of length. Your goal should be to soften the sharp angle of jaw line and minimize your squared-off brow.

Most Complimentary style: Haircuts that emphasize your cheekbones at mid-line of the face are most flattering. Go for side-parts. Bangs and waves at the temple will soften the square shape of your face. Wear hair coming forward onto the face to reduce the square feature of the face. Hair length is best about 1-1/2" below the chin. Height in crown will create illusion of length.

Avoid: Long straight style that accentuate square jawbone. Also avoid linear straight bangs and centre-parts.

The average person has around 100,000 strands of hair on their head and the average rate of growth is a mere one-half of an inch per month. Thus growing your hair will take time but there are a few things that can maximize the potential of your hair growing cycle.

The right vitamins and minerals play a major role in keeping your hair healthy. Any nutritional deficiencies can lead to thinning hair or even total baldness. Beta-carotene is found in green and yellow vegetables and fruits.

Protein is the most important ingredient for promoting hair growth since hair is basically 98 Percent Protein. Thus a diet that is too low in protein may cause thinning in hair or retardation in the growth cycle. Nutritionists advise healthy hair seekers to eat well-balanced diets that incorporate healthy proteins along with foods high in vitamin B, C, E, A and K.

For healthy and strong hair your body requires two essential fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6, that are not produced naturally by the human body. Vegetables and fruits are also essential for beautiful long hair. Consuming foods rich in copper, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc and other natural food elements is also helpful. Raw nuts, seed and grains are the safest foods to select for maintaining and growing healthy hair. They furnish hormones, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, many of which are not contained in cooked and processed foods.

Drink eight to ten glasses of water a day. Water helps cleanse your body of chemical wastes, pollutants, toxins and other impurities. When you keep yourself well hydrated and clear of toxins, your live is free to help process all the proper nutrients that your body needs.

HAIR STYLING--Perms

Perms are back!!!. Perming or permanent waves is a great way to add body, curls, & bounces to your hair. Perms can increase the fullness of soft, fine hair, put a curl or wave into straight hair, or simply make your hair easier to style. Thus perming can be used for styling hair in the following ways.

* To add curl. If your hair is fine and limp, getting perms just might do the trick for you. Gone are those days of tight, poodle type curls. Now you can choose from a variety of size curls. From small rollers to large, 1 ½ inch rollers, perms are out of the dark ages. A large roller will give you a very soft curl. A smaller roller will give you more of a spiral look.
* To relax naturally curly hair. If you have naturally curly hair, that is unruly, perming can tame those locks. By using a large roller then your natural curl size, perming will break down your hair and create a new curl.
* And to straighten hair. Yes, you can use perms to straighten hair. However, this method is tedious and time consuming. The lotion would be applied and then the stylist would comb your hair straight for the length of the timing. Sometimes up to 20 minutes. And this method would only be used on hair that is almost straight.

The strength of the perming solution used to curl the hair is measured by pH, which can be either alkaline or acidic.
ALKALINE WAVE: It is the best choice for resistant hair, Asian hair, hair with low elasticity, and hard to perm fine hair as well as normal, healthy hair.
ACID WAVE: These are milder than alkaline perms and work at a lower pH to reduce swelling of the hair during the perm process thus-reducing the chance of damage to fragile and colour treated hair. A good choice for healthy hair with good elasticity, tinted hair, damaged hair, highlighted hair, or fragile hair.

The perming process
* The hair is first washed and then wound on to some kind of former, such as a curler or a rod. The perm lotion is applied to the hair. Because the lotion is alkaline (pH about 9) the scales of the cuticle open slightly, allowing the lotion to flow under the cuticle and into the cortex. Here it reacts with the keratin of the cortex, breaking some of the disulphide cross-links within and between the protein chains. The hair swells and 'softens', so that it can stretch to take up the shape of the formers.
* After a while the perm lotion is thoroughly rinsed away and a neutralising lotion is applied. This re-forms the broken cross-links, which makes the hair harden into its new, curlier shape. This stage is the key to a successful perm: failure to rinse and neutralise properly can lead to many problems, including scalp irritation and damage to the structure of the hair shaft.

Some Tips if you are perming your hair at home:

# First and foremost wash and condition your hair properly. Hair that has already been chemically processed may need a cream conditioner applied to protect the hair before perming.
# Use protective gloves when applying chemicals.
# When wrapping hair around rollers, each section must be wrapped smoothly and evenly, without stretching the hair too tightly.
# After thoroughly rinsing out the permanent solution with warm water, a neutralizer must usually be applied for five to eight minutes to set the curl.
# Remove rollers and then rinse off neutralizer thoroughly with cool water.
# Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient in the product. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth.

HAIRSTYLE--The French Braid

Your face and your appearance depends a lot on your hairstyle. If you have long hair then you can try out French braid, which looks elegant, beautiful and is very easy too. You can also let your imagination run wild and play with a basic French braid and create a variety of looks from tucking the ends of the braid underneath the braid to wrapping the leftover tail into a soft bun.

French braid is actually an improvement over the English braid where instead of beginning with three strands, you have to begin with a thin ponytail starting from the top layer of hair and as you go down you have to keep adding thin strands of hair into the plait that will form. The braid looks very elegant with layers of hair draped on either side of the braid.

French Braid: Step-by-Step Procedure

*
Place your thumbs above and slightly behind your ears. Draw them slightly back and upward, gathering hair that meets at your crown into a ponytail. Don't anchor it.
*
Fashion one English plait, crossing the left strand over the centre so that the two strands trade places, then the right strand over the centre so that those two strands trade places.
*
Hold the plait in your right hand, separating the three loose strands below it with your fingers. Place your left thumb above and behind your left ear and use it to draw a strand half as thick as one of the original strands towards the ponytail.
*
Add the newly gathered hair to the left strand and cross this increased strand over the centre, taking the centre strand to the left as in ordinary English braiding.
*
Hold the plait in your left hand, separating the three loose strands below it with your fingers. Place your right thumb above and behind your right ear and use it to draw a strand half as thick as one of the original strands toward the ponytail.
*
Add the newly gathered hair to the right strand and cross this increased strand over the centre, taking the centre strand to the right as in ordinary English braiding.
*
Continue gathering hair from the left and right and adding it to the strands just before you cross them over the centre.
*
After several plaits, there will be no loose hair left to gather. English-braid the remaining strands and fasten the end of the braid with a covered band.
*
To give the French braid a different look you can also tuck the remaining hair under the braid and pin up the tail so that it is not seen. You can also decorate it with jewelled pin, tiny flowers, beads or other hair accessories.

THE KNOTTY AFFAIR

One look that is still very popular is the hair knot or hair twists. Knots and twists are still a hot favourite in the world of fashion with more and more celebrities and star going for knots. Knots not only look sexy and elegant but also add bounce and fullness to your hair. You can create knotted and twisted updos in a variety of ways. If you want just a few knots or twists you can practice and create an elegant, hot look at home yourself. If you want an elaborate series of knots or twists then you will have to ask a friend to help you if you do it yourself or ask your hair stylist for the knotted hairstyle.

Below listed are a few knots and twists that you can wear at parties, get-togethers and disco's which will make you look absolutely gorgeous, young, special and very hot:

Knotty Style 1
Divide clean, dry hair into 9 or more equal-size sections around the head and clip each section to hold. Working with 1 section at a time, twist the hair into a coil to form a fairly tight "knot." Keep twisting your hair until it starts to roll into itself. Continue twisting your hair loosely to form a spiral on top of your head. Use hairpins to hold each knot close to the scalp. Repeat for each section of hair. When you have completely pinned all the twists and knots use a good quality holding hairspray to guarantee hold. Add a sparkly hair pin or jewel to the top of the style or placed at the side.

Knotty Style 2
The second example of a knotted/twisted look to have knots only at the back of the head as if like a bun keeping the edges loose. This style has a lot fewer knots and twists compared to the first style above. The knots are pinned around each other almost overlapping all the knots.

Knotty Style 3
In the third style of knotted/twisted hairstyle you have to use less number of knots and the knots should be placed unevenly scattered all over the head in no particular pattern. The knots and twists are of all different sizes and shapes and the front of the hair is not full.

Knotty Style 4
In this style of knotty hairstyle tie a ponytail first leaving a few strands loose in front of the ponytail. Pin the ponytail into a soft bun. Then take the remaining hair, twist and pin. The knots are pinned right in front of the loose bun. In this style only a few knots and twists are used which are strategically placed in front of a messy bun.

Knotty Style 5
In this style of knotty hairstyle you have to divide the hair in very neat sections which has to be well planned and drawn out. Once you know what you want start twisting each section from the bottom of your hair and knot it up at the front of the head. Create as specific design having all the knots properly pinned at the front of the head. Knotty Style 6 This style is for short hair. Make small knots at the top of the head and leave the rest of the hair loose. The knots will look a crown consisting of tine curls on the top of the head giving your hair more fullness.

HAIR CARE

First and foremost, always comb your hair gently to prevent breakage. Hair is at its weakest when wet. So never brush your hair when wet. As far as possible let your hair dry naturally. Use dryers only when you are pressed for time or when you want to set them for an occasion. Detangle your hair before you wash it. Wet hair is very fragile so brush your hair thoroughly before getting into the shower.

Oiling and shampoos :

Oil your hair at least twice a week or for a day before washing. Oil really does wonders for your hair; coating each strand and making it shine. Besides oil massage also increases the circulation in the scalp and promotes hair growth. Avoid using harsh shampoos and conditioners as they can harm your hair and make them dry. Tackle dandruff with good antidandruff shampoos. Most of all try to keep your hair clean and do not expose it to strong wind, dust and pollution. Use a scarf while on a two-wheeler.

DEALING WITH HAIR LOSS

Loss of hair at a very tender age has become a common disorder these days. Hair loss can be because of number of problems but the main cause according to scientists is a progressive condition known as androgenetic alopecia or common hereditary hair loss. In androgenetic alopecia, combination of heredity, hormones and age causes progressive shrinking or miniaturization of certain hair follicles which result in no hair growth at all after certain period of time. Usually we lose about 100 hair per day, after a few months, a new hair grows out of the same follicle. But because of this condition hair growth becomes absolutely nil resulting in baldness. Other causes of hair loss are stress, skin disorders or serious disease, childbirth, shock, excessive drug intake, wrong eating habits, subjecting your hair to chemical treatments etc. Wrong eating habits and inadequate nutrition in your diet also causes loss of hair.

Treatment:

Until recently, there have been no effective treatments for hair loss. However, medicines and surgery to slow hair loss and replace lost hair are now available. There are also two main types of surgery for hair loss - transplantation and scalp reduction.
In order to have beautiful and thick hair growth you need to have adequate essential nutrients in the daily diet. Hair is made of protein and therefore adequate protein is necessary for healthy hair. You diet should be rich with proteins and minerals. You require a daily intake of 100 grams of protein which you can take either through protein supplements or by milk, buttermilk, yogurt, soyabean, eggs, cheese, meat and fish. A lack of vitamin A, vitamin B, B6, B12, folic acid, biotin, iron, copper and iodine may cause hair loss and premature greying. Lack of inositol is also a cause for loss of hair. Inositol is available in foods such as yeast, liver and molasses. Thus if your diet is rich in iodine, protein, vitamin, iron and inositol, then you can have long lustrous locks. Eat lots of green vegetable and fruits supplemented with foods such as milk, vegetable oils, honey, wheat germ, yeast, eggs and liver.
Remedies:
These are a few helpful tips to help regenerate hair follicles, but they do not cure any underlying conditions, or stress-related hair loss.

* Take dietary supplements such as Vitamin B6, protien & Silica. Supplements are useful when you can't get enough from natural food sources.

* Get enough sleep and have a balanced and healthy diet.

* Regularly massage your scalp after a hair wash. It will activate the sebaceous glands and there will be effective circulation of blood in the affected area, making the hair grow healthy.

* Apply coconut milk all over the scalp and massaging it into the hair. It will nourish the hair and promote hair growth. The coconut milk can be prepared by grinding the coconut malai and squeezing the residue.

* Application of the juice of green coriander leaves on the head is also considered beneficial for hair growth.

* Massage your scalp with Amla oil, prepared by boiling dry pieces of amla in coconut oil.

* Rinse your hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea this helps hair grow.

* Try drinking this - blend bananas with honey, yoghurt & low-fat milk.
* As far as possible lead a stress free life.

DEALING WITH DANDRUFF

The term dandruff has become a catchall name for an annoying and often embarrassing condition characterized by itchy or flaky scalp. Millions of people across the globe are affected dandruff, itchy or flaky scalp. Although no one really knows for sure what causes the flakes and itches of dandruff researchers suggest they may be an inflammatory reaction triggered by too much of the microscopic yeast-like organism normally found in small amounts on healthy scalps.

What is dandruff anyway?
By definition, common dandruff is an overproduction and build-up of dead skin cells. Our scalp -- like the rest of our body -- is covered with skin cells. As our skin renews itself, the top layer of old cells die and come off. Normally, the entire renewal process takes about two to three weeks. But for some, this process gets speeded up. The scalp increases its production of cells, causing the dead ones to pack together and build up on the scalp resulting in an itchy and red scalp. The dead skin slough off as white or gray flakes on our collars and shoulders.

Possible Causes:
Causes of dandruff are due to food allergies; allergies to hair care products; a combination of cold weather, low humidity and dry indoor heat; infrequent shampooing; and that standby root of most health problems -- stress. However dandruff cannot be associated with dry skin. Dandruff can actually cause due to overproduction in the scalp's oil glands and people with oilier scalp are more likely to have this disorder.

Dandruff Treatment and Preventions:
1. The first -- and probably most simple -- step in treating dandruff is frequent and effective shampooing of the hair and scalp. This washes away flakes before they can build up and helps soothe itchy scalp.

2. Mix 8 tbsp. peanut oil with the juice of half a lemon. Rub the mixture into your hair, leave on for 10 minutes and then wash as usual.

3. Eat a well balanced diet and make at least 50 percent of your diet raw food.

4. Avoid or decrease your intake of fried foods, dairy products, sugar, chocolate and nuts,

HOW TO PREVENT SPLIT ENDS???

Trichoptilosis is a longitudinal splitting of hair fiber better known as "split ends". It develops after the protective cuticle has been stripped away from the end of hair fibers as a result of over processing. Any chemical or physical trauma that weathers the hair may eventually lead to split ends. Vigorous brushing can even induce it. Typically the damaged hair fiber splits into two or three strands and the split may be two or three centimeters in length. However the greater the damage to the hair fiber the more severe the split ends may be.

The best treatment for split ends is to cut the hair and remove the split and damaged hair by receiving regular trims to maintain blunt smooth ends.

Does anything really fix split ends?
You cannot mend split ends; the only way to get rid of them is to trim your hair occasionally, tiny trims every four weeks, and following with deep-conditioning treatments in order to keep strands supple and flexible. Use good conditioners and don't blow dry your hair on high heat. This type of a maintenance routine should ensure that splits don't crop up at all.

Things to remember:

1. Don't brush hair when it's wet, because that's when it is at its most vulnerable.

2. Cut down on hair dryers, straightening irons, curling irons and hot curlers.

3. Buy a natural-bristle brush that won't pull on hair and ultimately break it off, thereby causing a possible split end.

4. Wear a hat to minimize sun damage.

5. Condition after shampooing, and use a deep conditioner once a month.

COLOURING YOUR HAIR

Colouring your hair is perhaps the quickest and most dramatic way to change your look. If you are fed up with the same hairstyle, hair colour and looks then you can get a dramatic change by just colouring your hair. Your appearance will change drastically and you will feel a completely new person. So go ahead and colour your hair.

Introduction:
There are two types of hair dyes: permanent and semi-permanent, with variations of each.

A) Permanent Tints:
Must be mixed with hydrogen peroxide to lift hair colour. The peroxide opens the hair cuticle so that the tint can penetrate the cortex and form the colour. The higher the level of peroxide, the quicker and lighter the result.

B) Semi-Permanent Colours:
They don't actually lift the colour - you can either vary the tone within your natural highlights or go darker. Quasi-colour contains ethanolamine and 3% peroxide, which slightly opens the cuticle. This means that the colour can last up to 20 washes and will softly fade as you shampoo, causing no re-growth problem.

C) Semi-Permanent Vegetable Colours:
Contain only vegetable extracts and natural ingredients, so no colour is stripped from your hair. It is similar to henna but it doesn't coat the hair (adds shine though). This colour sits on the hair's surface and will wash out after about 8 shampoos.

Points to consider:
Skin Tone: Your new hair colour should complement your skin tone. Light-skinned people don't look good with very dark hair because it draws colour out of their skin. Dark, tanned skin doesn't look great when mixed with a one-tone blonde, but four or five blonde, chestnut or honey tones look fabulous. Hairstyles: Different colouring methods suit different hairstyles, so get some expert advice when deciding which one to go for.

Hair Colours

BLACK:
This is by far the easiest colour to accomplish because the molecules in black tints are larger and will cover all hair types very effectively. Caution is needed when using black, as it only tends to look good on people with darker and olive skin tones.

BROWN:
Brunette is always a safe choice as it suits nearly every girl in town. Varying the shade with highlights can achieve a huge range of looks. From chocolate brown and bronze shades to honey or dark blonde, combinations of natural tones gives incredible shine as darker-pigmented tints add condition to your hair.

RED:
Red is the ultimate sexy shade, for colour that cries out for attention. Hair holds on to red-toned pigments well, so going copper-top can be easy for most people. But be warned - if you are blonde you will usually have to go two or three shades darker than your natural colour to achieve a rich red (brunette), and it's not easy to reverse it.

BLONDE:

If you would love to be blonde, talk the process through with your hair stylist before you go for it. It should be relatively painless on virgin dark brown hair, but if your hair has been permanently tinted then the process will become a long saga. Never attempt this kind of dye job on your own for the first time.

A few questions answered:

* Normally we wonder that colouring will spoil the hair texture and that is a doubt, which is there in every girls mind. Well the truth is colouring your hair will not damage it if done properly. Only if the wrong level of peroxide is used or you are over-processing (too many permanent colours are applied) your hair then it will be harmful for your hair. If you constantly change your hair colour, especially if you go from blonde to brown and back to blonde, you must regularly use deep conditioning treatments to avoid hair damage.

*The other question is why do coloured hair look dull and lifeless. The reason is over-processing. If your hair is starting to look dull, use semi-permanent colours where the pigments sit on top of the hair adding plenty of tone and shine. One thing to note is that semi-permanent colour give your hair a higher shine and enhance condition, but they won't lift natural hair colour. Also, a semi-permanent tint will not cover large amount of grey hair (more than 50%). If a permanent tint is used correctly, you will always achieve a beautiful effect and semi-permanent tints can be used to maintain these permanent treatments, adding condition.

HAIR COLOUR WOES

Women are fascinated with different hair colours and shade and at some point of time want to try them out. The right hair colour can turn a simple and ordinary looking girl to a gorgeous red or a beautiful blonde or classy raven beauty. However with pleasure often comes pain. Permanent hair dyes with a high chemical composition may stress and dry out the best of hair. Even worse, hair colour can sometimes go horribly wrong. Whether applied at home or the highest priced salon in town, hair colour can sometimes take a bizarre detour and come out any hue, but the one that we hoped for.

Possible Problems :

If you are experiencing hair colour horrors you developed them because of one of two possible paths:

1. You went to a professional stylist or colourist and came out with a colour disaster.

2. You were swept away by a hair colour advertisement and did colouring part yourself in the privacy of your home.
\ Gravity Defyer

Solutions :

If you went to a professional colourist or stylist, contact them immediately to report your colour problem. Prompt action is critical for safe colour correction. Try to keep your cool and avoid shouting and screaming at the stylist. That will not help fix the problem. Remember, even the best colourists and stylists in the world can encounter problems. Give them the benefit of the doubt and be willing to let them try and fix the colour to your satisfaction. Most professionals will try to correct colour problems and will do it at no additional cost, unless you caused the problem in some way. Be sure to ask what the colour correction will cost before you agree to try it at the hands of your hair professional. This allows you to be clear about your financial responsibility.

Once you have suffered through bad colour, try not to panic and rush to find a solution that might cause even more harm. Many people try to fix the colour problems themselves once they get home. This will often make the problem a lot worse and potentially damage hair beyond easy repair. Once you have a colour problem the very best solution is to find a professional colour correction expert and work with them to get you back to your desired colour. Remember that the journey through colour correction procedure will normally take about 4 to 5 visits to the professional.

If you have done the colouring job at home and you have encountered the colour problem then immediately contact a colour correction expert. Do not do anything on your own or you will damage your hair beyond repair. Avoid applying colour removing products available at the market. The colour removal products often contain strong chemicals or bleach and in the wrong hands they can cause severe hair breakage. Colour removal products should never be used on relaxed or permed hair without the advice of a hair expert.

Here are some other ways to recover from the horrors of bad colour:

Time heals all hair wounds

Although you may hate your new colour, if neither home nor professional correction are an option, consider going shorter with a new style that will allow you to outgrow the colour quickly. Ask your stylist to help you select a style that minimizes any new roots or growth. Give yourself some time to let the colour fade naturally away.

Pop a pill

Hair vitamins will help maximize your genetic hair growth rate and to help you grow super healthy new strands and leave bad colour behind. Consider adding a good essential fatty acid to your daily vitamin count which will help to internally condition new strands.

Accessorize

Use hair clips, barrettes, jeweled hairpins and headbands to camouflage uneven colour. Grab the latest fashion headgear as a last resort.

Be positive

Being positive really helps in any bad situation. Not only does positive thinking and actions make you feel better, it gives you the opportunity to learn new ways to appreciate your hair. Experiment with your hair. Buy hair styling products and give yourself a new look. And use this bad experience as a lesson and avoid this situation in the future.

MAKING YOUR COLOUR LAST LONG

Once you have got your hair coloured with your desired shade, the next thing that you want is to make the colour vibrant as long as possible.

Listed below are several techniques for making your hair colour last::

* Select the hair coloring product that is most compatible with your life style. If you don't have time to redo your roots every 3-4 weeks, you may want to select a hair color shade that is only 1-3 shades lighter than your natural color. The closer you go to your natural hair color, the less your roots will show as they grow out. When your roots are less obvious, your hair color will last longer before you have to touch up your roots. Always select the type of coloring product that is easiest for you to maintain.

* Apply a deep conditioning treatment to your hair a few days before coloring. The better conditioned your hair is, the easier the color will take and the longer it will last.

* Color hair that has not been washed for one day. The natural hair oils will assist in making the hair color application more successful. The color will cling better to hair that is not dry.

* Use a color enhancing shampoo between applications to enhance and maintain the color. The color shampoos will help you keep your color looking good until it is time for the next application. If you don't wish to use a color enhancing shampoo then at least use the most gentle shampoo that you can.

* Avoid exposing your colored hair to the sun or chlorine in swimming pools. The sun may fade your hair color and the chlorine may damage the color. In some severe cases, if you have colored your hair a very light color the chlorine may leave a green tinge to your hair.

* Use layered colors to prevent an overall faded color look. The advantage to applying layered colors would be to have complimentary shades of darker and lighter colors which would reflect the light and give the color a multidimensional look.

TREATING DRY HAIR

Dry hair looks dull and lifeless. This type of hair craves moisture, and in most instances requires a healthy dose of protein. Dry hair needs protection in the form of emollients and lubricants, which will lay down the outside cuticle layer of the hair and create shine. Humectants will attract and retain moisture within this type of hair. Daily cleansing and conditioning with moisturizing and emollient treatments will go a long way toward alleviating a dry, tight scalp, while replenishing lost moisture and proteins along the hair shaft. Moisturisers contain "humectants" that not only replace lost moisture but actually attract moisture and retain it in the cortex of the hair.

Therefore use moisturisers, which have "humectants" in it. Essential fatty aids (EFA's) are great moisturizers. One of the best and most cost effective essential fatty acids is safflower oil. The scalp produces the best EFA's called sebum but sebum cannot reach upto the entire length of the hair if the hair is long. Hence it is necessary that to treat dry hair you have to use proper conditioners and moisturisers.

Treating your hair with natural moisturisers as follows:

* Take a few drops of safflower oil in your palms and carefully take your hair (while dry) and apply the small amount of oil to the ENDS first and work toward the scalp. By applying safflower oil your dry hair will have the proper amount of humectants to attract and retain moisture.
* Leave this in your hair for atleast 2 hours before washing.
* Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (on ends only) every other day. Rinse with water alone on off days.
* Avoid heat-styling (blow-drying, flat-ironing) as often as possible because it damages your hair.
* When you're at the beach, spread some of the sunscreen you use on your body through your hair so that it doesn't dry out and get crispy.

GREY HAIR PROBLEM

Grey Hair Problems - Causes & Treatments

Grey Hair is a symptom of improper protein synthesis. Hair grows white when the colour pigment (melanin) ceases to be produced in the hair follicle and small air spaces take its place. Pigment cells located at the base of each hair follicle produce the natural dominant colour of our youth. However, as a person grows older and reaches middle age, more and more of these pigment cells die and colour is lost from individual hairs. The result is that a person's hair gradually begins to show more and more grey. Individual hairs each have an outer layer (the cuticle) of overlapping flat cells, underneath, which is the thick cortex, which consists of horn-like keratin. The inside of the hair is made of softer, rectangular cells. Hair colour is determined by the concentration and depth of melanin pigment in the cortex - this produces the whole spectrum of hair colour from blond to black, with very fair people having almost no melanin. When these melanocytes die, then the hair turns grey. Melanocytes produce the pigment melanin and they are the cells responsible for much of the coloring of the human body, including the hair. With age the melanocytes lose their ability to make pigment, so color is absent from new hair.

Grey hair is usually associated with ageing, but this is not always the case. Early greying of the hair is basically hereditary, and we can inherit it from one of our parents or grandparents. So if your father's hair started to turn grey in his thirties there is a good chance yours will too. Grey hair can also be influenced by stress. A person experiencing a prolonged period of stress and anxiety may notice, over a period of time, white hairs gradually appearing. Malnutrition, worry, shock, deep sorrow, tension and other similar conditions may also slow down the production of melanin resulting in grey hair. Sever illness too can stop or affect the production of melanin. However, scientists have not been fully able to explain the exact causes of this change in colour of the hair.

Contrary to popular belief pulling out one grey hair will make two grow in its place is a myth. What can happen, however, is that if your hair is starting to turn grey and you pull one grey hair out, it may well be that the neighboring grey hair is just about to start growing, therefore two hairs in close proximity will appear at about the same time.

Home Remedies and Treatment

" Amla " is the best cure for grey hair and falling hair. Regular massage of "amla" paste rubbed into the scalp has worked wonders in many cases, frequently reversing the process of greying or falling off of hair.

Massage your hairs with coconut oil and Lemon everyday for at least 15 minutes. There are instances of people having black hairs even up to the age of 60-70 years by using this method.

Soak about 10 to 12 rithas and 3 to 4 shikakai pods overnight in a pint of water. Next day, boil for a few minutes and strain. Use this liquid as a normal shampoo. Separately soak 10 to 12 dried amlas in half a cup of water overnight. Strain and use as a hair conditioner after your head bath. Leave it on the hair for ten minutes and rinse your hair with clean warm water. This will leave your hair smooth and shiny and also stop premature greying of your hair.

Control Excessive Hair Loss

SCALP MASSAGING

Massaging the scalp helps keep your hair healthy and can also promote hair growth. Just as body massage relaxes you and is one of the most effective ways to ease your tension and pain, massaging your scalp is also beneficial because it is extremely relaxing, calming, and helps relieve headaches and migraines. It stimulates the blood flow thereby nourishing the hair follicles which in turn prevents and fights avoidable hair loss, and re-establishes the natural development of healthy hair.

Massaging Tips:
Take oil and start from the forehead hairline along the arteries in the front, side, and back of the head, making small circles with your fingertips.

Work your way toward the top of the head as if drawing a circle.

Massage your hair/scalp for just ten minutes a day: once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Do not give up after a few days. Make it a habit! You can also massage your scalp when shampooing your hair.

Remember massage your scalp with your fingertips and not your nails.

Avoid excessive brushing because not only does brushing too much, damage your hair because it scrapes away your hair cuticle but it also makes you oily hair more oily and dry hair more brittle.

Make up to suit your face Tips

Every person has a different face structure and therefore should apply makeup accordingly. However most of us don't know how to compliment the exact shape of our face and apply makeup to suit our face structure. We have brought for you different makeup techniques that will help you enhance your best features for your unique face shape.
MAKE UP TIPS FOR ROUND FACE
Round Face: A large, curved forehead with a rounded chin. The face looks full and has very few angles. Cheekbones are clearly wider than brow bone and jaw line. Widest point is at the cheeks and ears.

A round face lacks dominant facial features and the principal object is to counter the roundness of the face and give it a long and elongated shape. To make the face appear longer, use makeup to create lightness from the lower lip to the chin and from the brows to the hairline.

Concealer: Begin by applying concealer to make the skin tone look equal. Apply concealer in such a way that the cheekbones are highlighter while the jaw line is lightened. Using a sponge, dab the cream under the eyes. Blend it in up on the sides of the nose and out to the upper cheeks. Highlight the centre portions of your face by applying concealer on the forehead and chin.

Foundation: For redefining a round face you need foundation of two different shades, one light and one dark, which should be just one shade deeper than your skin tone. Place the darker foundation, in the fullness at your temples, as well as in the fullness of your jaw line. Keep the chin clear - this helps to make the face look longer. Smooth the liquid into the skin using a sponge. If you find that you have fullness under your chin and your neck, apply the darker foundation down in that area. Blend the lighter foundation into the same central areas that you placed the concealer - under the eyes, on the nose, chin and forehead. Use a translucent powder to lightly cover the area.

Final Touch: After the face shape has been corrected with foundation, apply a contour powder and blush. Place the contour powder on the fullness of the temples with a makeup brush. Continue to blend the powder down along the fullness of the jaw, keeping the chin clear. Finally, apply blush directly onto the cheekbones.

MAKE UP TIPS FOR SQUARE FACE

Square Shaped Face: A square shaped face has a straight hairline and a square jaw line. Therefore you have to create an illusion of length. Your goal should be to soften the sharp angle of jaw line and minimize your squared-off brow.

A square-shaped face has very strong features at the temples and the jaw line. Thus the main focus will be to elongate the appearance of the face by bringing lightness to the cheekbones, the centre of the forehead and the chin.

Concealer: Apply concealer to the top of the forehead, the chin and on any kind of lines that you want to minimize. Take the sponge and blend the makeup into the face. The cover up should extend from under the eyes all the way up into the temples, especially if the facial structure recedes in that area.

Foundation: Using two different colour foundations, apply the deeper shade in the areas that you want to minimize i.e., the square parts of the forehead and square parts of the jaw line. Blend the makeup into the skin, avoiding the chin. You may wish to bring a bit under the neck as well. Apply the lighter foundation to the same spots that you used the concealer - chin, forehead and cheekbones. Apply translucent powder to all areas of the face with a cosmetic sponge.

Final Touch: Apply contour powder to the same areas as you placed the warmer foundation. Cover the square areas of the temples, keeping the centre light. Apply the powder below the cheekbones and bring it forward right along the square jaw. Using a makeup brush, apply the powder to the cheekbones from the ear to the outer corner of the eye. Remember not to bring the blush too high - you'll draw attention to the square features of the face and negate the emphasis you just created for the cheekbones.

MAKE UP TIPS FOR OVAL FACE

Oval Face: Oval is a perfectly balanced face; the top half balances the bottom half. Those who have oval face are extremely lucky coz they have a perfectly balanced face.

The oval face is considered the most aesthetically balanced face. Accentuate your best features by applying makeup that will bring out the centre part of your face.

Concealer: Apply the concealer covering the area from underneath the eyes to the outer cheekbones. Use a bit in the centre of the forehead as well.

Foundation: Use two different shades of foundation. Apply the darker foundation to the temples. Apply more of the makeup along the outer cheek and jaw line, being sure to include the chin. Next, get your lighter foundation and place that in the centre of the face, including the areas around the eyes, nose, lower forehead and upper lip.

Final Touch: Contour powder is to be applied with a makeup brush to the fullness of the forehead. Starting from the back of the bone, blend the powder into the area below the cheekbones and down the jaw line. Apply blush to the cheekbones, moving the brush forward.

MAKE UP TIPS FOR DIAMOND FACE

Diamond Face Shape: Cheekbone is clearly wider than forehead and jaw line. Your aim should be to reduce the width around the cheekbone line.

In a diamond-shaped face more emphasis is to be given to the chin, the cheeks and the forehead. Applying cosmetics can help to bring the facial features forward.

Concealer: Apply concealer to get rid of any discolorations, redness, brownness etc. Apply concealer into the centre of the face to create a look of lightness. Blend it in the centre of the forehead, under the eyes and on the sides of the nose.

Foundation: Use two different colours of foundation i.e., one dark and one light. Using a cosmetic sponge, apply the dark shade to the areas that you want to minimize, such as the temples and the jaw line. Keep the centre area where you applied the concealer clear. Next, choose a lighter shade of foundation, one that is very close to your natural colour. Put it on the same areas that you used the concealer - under the eyes, across the nose, forehead and chin. Next, use a sponge to apply a translucent powder, preferably one that doesn't have a colour.

Final Touch: After correcting the face shape with foundations, brush contour powder onto the jaw line to help provide some facial definition. If you feel that your chin, temples or frontal bone protrude, you can cover those areas with some contour powder. To add colour to your face, apply some blush with a makeup brush. Starting from the back of the bone, blend the blush forward.

MAKE UP TIPS FOR RECTANGULAR FACE

Rectangular Face: Rectangular shape is long and narrow with hollow cheeks. There is very little difference in width between the top, middle or bottom of your face but it is more rounded than the square face. Your goal should be to add width and fullness to the sides of the face and around the eyes, cheekbones and ears. The basic purpose of make-up skills for a rectangular face is to minimize the look of fullness in the forehead, jaw and chin.

Concealer: Using a cosmetic sponge, apply a cream concealer under the eyes, blending it all the way out to the cheekbones. You can also place a bit of concealer in the middle of your forehead, across your nose and above your lip.

Foundation: Dab the foundation on the skin with a sponge, covering the temples, the jaw line and the chin. Blend the foundation into the sides of the forehead and the frontal bone of the eye.

Final Touch: Apply powder below the cheekbone, including the jawbone and the chin. This helps to soften the look of fullness in the face. You may also bring the powder right under the neck. Apply blush from the back of the cheekbone forward. Stop at the outer corner of the eye. Get a lighter colour blush and loosely brush the makeup a little closer into the apple of the cheeks.

MAKE UP TIPS FOR PEAR FACE
Pear Face: Pear shaped face has a wide forehead and a narrow chin line. For a pear-shaped face, the wide jaw line is the major point of focus. Thin temples just add to this effect. Through the use of contouring and softening makeup, you can bring the look of this face into balance.

Concealer: Place some cream concealer on a cosmetic sponge and apply it around the eye, on the nose and in the centre of the forehead. Stay away from any where in the jaw area.

Foundation: You will need two shades of foundation, one dark and one light. Using a cosmetic sponge, dot the darker foundation along your full jaw line (including the chin) and in the upper portion of the forehead. Blend. Take the lighter foundation and apply it to the same areas that you covered with concealer - under the eye out to the cheekbones, over the nose, across the temples.

Final Touch: Using a makeup brush, apply contour powder below the cheekbones down to the jaw and across the chin. This will help to further minimize the full jaw line. Applying blush can be a bit tricky on this shape of face. Apply blush to the cheekbones. By dividing the face in half in this manner, the emphasis remains on the cheekbones.
or a pear-shaped face, the wide jaw line is the major point of focus. Thin temples just add to this effect. Through the use of contouring and softening makeup, you can bring the look of this face into balance.
